St Andrew's Church & Vestry

The Friends of St Andrew’s Church, Aldringham, was originally set up in April 1997 to help fund the vestry extension and since that time has raised many thousands of pounds.  The vestry extension enables us to provide refreshments comfortably after services and during concerts.  The "Friends" is a voluntary organization which provides a network for those who love our church and its surroundings but who do not necessarily worship here regularly.

Essential major repair work to the exterior of the church and internal work and redecoration was completed in 2010.  This was a very expensive repair and much needed for the continued good condition of our church. We continue to raise funds to keep the Fabric Fund topped up for the future.

We hold many successful events each year, including a Spring Coffee Morning and Plant Sale, a Craft and Coffee Morning in the church vestry, in late autumn, and Quizzes in Knodishall Village Hall. All these events plus donations and membership subscriptions raise substantial sums.

2017 Events

The Bridge Drive held on 24 April had a full complement of ten tables of Bridge Players. Everyone was very generous in buying raffle tickets and with some additional donations, after expenses were deducted the grand sum of £700 was raised for the Fabric Fund. Thanks go to the bridge players who took part, those who donated raffle prizes, those who set up the hall, sold the raffle tickets, made the sandwiches and cakes, and the kitchen crew who served the afternoon tea.

The Coffee Morning in the church on 6 May was well attended with a variety of stalls for people to browse and buy from. Thank you to everyone who donated items for the Tombola and to sell and everyone who came along to Coffee Morning, after expenses were paid £394. was raised for the Fabric Fund. We thank you for your generosity.

Ten teams took part in our March Quiz Night. Thanks to Christine Brooks for her varied and interesting questions, our scorers, the kitchen crew and sandwich and cake makers, also the raffle ticket sellers. Thank you to all who took part in the quiz and bought raffle tickets. Together we raised the sun of £412.25, after expenses, for the Fabric Fund.

Our next Quiz will be on Friday 17th November. at Knodishall Village Hall (iao Aldringham Church) 19h30.

There was a good audience for the Amici Concert on the choir’s third visit to St. Andrews in March. Many thanks to an appreciative audience who donated £271 to the retiring collection which with Gift Aid added made £339 before expenses.

Thank you to all our supporters who have helped The Friends of St. Andrews boost the Fabric Fund Account by supplying goods to sell and raffle and by their attendance at our fund raising events. All money raised is directed to the PCC Treasurer of St Andrew’s Church to be used to support the Fabric Fund and the maintenance of our beautiful, prayerful, historic church. We look forward to your continued support.

A big Thank You to all those who were involved in planning, running and supporting the many fund raising events put on by the Friends of St Andrew's Church.

Much time is spent in finding others to help, acquiring or making items to sell, publicity and putting up posters, getting the venues ready for events and clearing away afterwards. Thank you to all those who make these events happen.

We are grateful also for items donated for sale or for the Draws/Tombola and donations received. Thank you for your generosity.
