News from the Ogilvie Pavilion & Sportsground

As I write the sun is shining, the sky is blue and there's a real feel of spring in the air, so it must be time to wake the pavilion up from its winter snooze. The War Gamers and Tea and Toast have kept things ticking over during the winter but it is in the warmer summer months that the place really comes into its own. Set well back off the road and with its recent exterior revamp on view it's looking better this year than it has for a long time.

We are hoping to have a date from the original Margaret and Alexander Ogilvie Trust after their next meeting as to when the pavilion and its assets will be transferred over to our new charity but in the meantime, we are not standing still and AGM was held on 2 April at the Pavilion.

We have three car boot sales planned for this this summer, one each in June, July and August. Not quite as many as last year but to compensate for that the very popular 'drinks and nibbles' on Sunday lunchtimes will increase to every Sunday lunchtime during the whole of July and August, please keep your eye on local notice boards for start dates and times. Our popular Classics at the Pavilion will be back for a third time on 27th August ‘Bank Holiday Sunday’ and again do please keep your eyes on village notice boards for details. The fortnightly quizzes run by Wendy will be returning to their 'summer home' at the pavilion hopefully during April so again see local notice boards for latest info, this is a very informal quiz with the emphasis on fun! Even if you haven't got a team come and join us and we will find one for you to join. We are looking forward to the return of the 'Coastal Fun Run' organised by the Rotary Club which is on Sunday 30th April ‘May Bank Holiday weekend’ it is always a busy and popular event with food being available and we do open the bar that day for anyone who likes to finish their run with a pint of beer or glass of wine, other drinks are available!

We have caravans booked for four weekends this year, we feel that is enough as we want to keep the pavilion and sports ground available as much as possible for village events.

So it looks like we will be having another busy summer this year. There is always room for a few more activities so if anyone would like to book the field, or pavilion or both please ring Wendy Sturmey on 01728 45258
