Members of ImpACT have, for a long time, felt that Aldringham needs to have its own defibrillator. True, there are ’defibs’ at Thorpeness and in Knodishall, but as speed is vital in dealing with heart failure, it seems important to have one within walking, or running, distance from any incident. With great help from Chris, our landlord of the Parrot, and the Ei Group, the owners of the building, we have launched an appeal for a defibrillator box to be installed on the outside wall of the pub, adjacent to the old Smoke Room door.
This appeal is being co-ordinated with Jayne Biggs of Heart2Heart Defibrillators, who has placed over eighty of these units throughout East Anglia. There will be collecting boxes on the Parrot bar and there is a raffle running consisting of the winning prize from Village Quiz - a very generous array of Gin, wine, beer and chocolates. Tickets are available at the pub. Donations to the appeal can be made online to:
A/C no: 49148761
Sort code: 53-50-03
Reference : Aldringham
Cheques can be made payable to Heart2Heart Norfolk and left at the bar of the pub. We will be looking for up to £1500 to cover all costs.
More information on defibrillators and progress will be posted at the pub and on the village notice boards. At the end of the appeal and the unit is fitted, Jayne will spend an evening at the Parrot, explaining, to those interested, the user instructions and CPR techniques.
So, everybody, dig deep! These are genuine live savers.
