Works Tracker:

  • Works are ongoing across the Main Development Site and Associated Development Sites.  Works to build the foundations of the water desalination plant and concrete batching plant on the Temporary Construction Area have begun, and preparations for the installation of the first bridge over the Site of Special Scientific Interest continue. The first section of the plastic cut-off wall on the perimeter of the Main Construction Area has been installed - once complete, the wall will enable dewatering and bulk excavation. Earthworks are progressing on the Ancillary Construction Area, with deliveries of ballast and pre-assembled straight track sections taken in preparation for the construction of the railhead. Construction of the northern section of the temporary sea defence has begun, with the first sheet piles being installed. Marine surveys are taking place in the marine harbour in preparation for construction of the Beach Landing Facility and Marine Bulk Import Facility, expected to begin late in 2025. Works on the new junction of Lover’s Lane and Abbey Road have started as part of realignment works to enable the installation of a new level crossing for the Green Rail Route, whilst preparations at the site of the plaza roundabout continue. Vegetation removal at the Friday Street Roundabout site is complete, and all site accesses along the Two Village Bypass have been established in preparation for construction. Preparations for the construction of Sizewell Link Road, including the setting up of compounds, establishing haul roads, and moving equipment, continue. Construction of Yoxford Roundabout continues, with a programmed completion date of mid-2026. Site preparation works continue at the Northern and Southern Park and Ride sites, and construction of the roundabout next to the A12 and Willow Marsh Lane at the Northern Park and Ride has begun. The Freight Management Facility at Orwell Logistics Park is fully operational. The new compound at Leiston Airfield, which will allow the teams delivering rail improvements to move from the Buckleswood Road compound, is now complete.

SPR EA1N and EA2 – other updates:· 
Application DC/25/2037/FUL (HDD works under Hundred River) – Determination deadline 26th September 2025.·
Works formally commenced on the substation haul road phase at the end of July 2025.
Archaeological mitigation (pre-commencement) works on site are ongoing (i.e. geophysical surveys, trial trenching, archaeological monitoring) between Friston substation working eastwards along the onshore cable route to the landfall site north of Thorpeness – due to end January 2026.
