Help Charities

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and make friends within your community, as well as supporting your chosen Charity.

New Volunteering Website

There is a new and easy way to discover volunteering opportunities in Suffolk, thanks to the Volunteer Suffolk website. The site has been created as a one-stop shop for people to discover how they can gift their time, and for local organisations to advertise their volunteering opportunities. The website already boasts more than 100 volunteering opportunities, added by local organisations and charities. These range from short-term and one-off roles, to temporary positions and long-term roles.

For more information visit www.volunteersuffolk.org.uk

You could volunteer for or otherwise help Charities - here are just a few ideas .....

St Elizabeth Hospice

St Elizabeth Hospice is asking for volunteers to help at retail events, such as markets, car boot sales and festivals and also for volunteer drivers to collect and take patients to and from the Hospice. If you would like to find out more about volunteering at St Elizabeth Hospice events or driving, call 01473 707016, email volunteering@stelizabethhospice.org.uk, or visit www.stelizabethhospice.org.uk/volunteer.

If you would like to donate furniture to sell in the Hospices' shops across East Suffolk do not drop it off at the shop, please call 0845 259 0319 and your furniture will be collected from your home.

You can raise money for the Hospice by taking part in the challenges the Hospice regularly offers to brave people, and you can support them in other ways - play the Hospice Lottery, link your Event to their Appeal, and more. Visit the Hospice website to find out more, call the fundraising team on 01473 723600 or email fundraising@stelizabethhospice.org.uk. If you have furniture to donate please call 0845 259 0319.

St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people living with a progressive illness in East Suffolk and South Norfolk. It costs £9.1million a year to run with almost three quarters of that coming from the local community.

East Anglia's Children's HospicesImage of EACH logo

EACH needs your help. They support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Hospices need your support to meet their ongoing running costs.

Home-Start Suffolk Coastal

Could you be a Home-Start Volunteer?

Home-Start Suffolk Coastal is a charity which provides support to families in the Suffolk Coastal and East Ipswich area.

We are a local charity supporting families with at least one child under the age of 5. Families may need support for many reasons, perhaps struggling to cope with postnatal illness, a child's disability, family breakdown, bereavement or isolation.

Suffolk Cruse Bereavement Care

We are a charity set up to help bereaved people to understand their grief and cope with their loss. We provide information, one to one support and offer advice, education and training services. We also have a specialist Children & Young People Team. If you would like to volunteer to support bereaved people, help on our Area Committee or with publicity and fundraising please contact us.

If you shop online you can generate donations to the Rural Coffee Caravan, St Elizabeth Hospice, Tools with a Mission and/or other local and national charities simply by shopping through www.TheGivingMachine.co.uk. Select the charities you wish to support, choose from over 200 online shops registered with the site, most of those you'd use anyway, and shop as you would normally. It costs you nothing - the online store donates.
